Go green, go camping!

In honor of Earth Day this year, I'm starting a camping blog to encourage folks to get the heck outside and enjoy the planet.

If you are reading this you are probably a) really into camping b) looking for new and different people to stalk over the internet or c)
my mother (hi mom!).  If you are anything like me at all, you probably don't have the time to read this post, never mind find new and  innovative ways to enjoy that quirky pastime otherwise known as "family camping".

I wasn't always a happy camper.  I have early childhood memories of leaky army surplus tent + White Mountain thunderstorm = vortex of disaster.  When I got older and became a young (i.e. poor) mom myself,  camping seemed like a better alternative to vacationing in the backyard with a grill and a kiddie pool.  When I got REALLY Old (30) I could afford to take real vacations (definition: requiring a boarding pass and customs declaration).

Still, something was missing.

As fun as it is to kick it in a five star tropical resort, few things inspire wonder in the universe more than spending a few days outside in this wonderful world.  For the past five years, I have gathered a group of friends, family (and sometimes complete strangers) into a band of weekend gypsies (weather permitting).

I hope to share my experiences with all who care to read, and to show you just how quickly and easily you can take your show on the road.

Snappy Camping!
